Application
Chemical Industry
FFC EFX actuators support corrosive, hazardous, and batch chemical process valves with enclosure, certification, and control review.
Selection context
Chemical Industry valve automation
Chemical and petrochemical plants run actuators on batch reactor feed valves, distillation column controls, heat exchanger isolation, blender feed lines, and effluent handling. Process duties vary by recipe, often switching service over a single shift.
Control modes include sequenced batch open/close, modulating temperature control, and emergency isolation during interlock trip. Local manual override is often required for maintenance access, and partial-stroke testing supports safety-instrumented systems.
Many duties handle corrosive, toxic, or flammable media. Actuator enclosures must match the area classification, the wetted drive interface must resist the process, and ambient may include elevated temperature near reactors and washdown for hygiene runs.
FFC EFX-D and EFX-Q both serve chemical projects when the valve, sealing, communication, and certification requirements are clear. Explosion-proof or hazardous-area variants are project-specific — confirm the area classification with FFC and the matching actuator variant will be quoted.
Typical selection checks
- Valve torque, travel, and operating time
- Open/close, modulating, ESD, and local control requirements
- Outdoor, wet, hazardous, marine, or corrosive installation conditions
- Fieldbus, analogue signal, and plant feedback requirements
