Selection context
Water treatment plants automate valves at raw water intakes, screening, sedimentation, filtration, membrane skids, chlorination, and clean water distribution headers. Seawater desalination adds reverse-osmosis trains and brine outfalls with their own corrosion and pressure profile.
Duties combine slow modulating control on flow-balance valves with frequent on/off cycling on backwash and filter-rotation valves. SCADA integration usually expects Modbus RTU or Profibus, with discrete feedback wired back to local control panels.
Outdoor installations and underwater submergence drive ingress protection up to IP68; chlorine and brine environments require corrosion-resistant materials on actuator housings and mounting brackets. Cold storage and freeze protection apply in northern regions.
