Steam

Actuator guidance for saturated and superheated steam valves needing thermal isolation, torque margin, and suitable mounting.

Service context

Steam valve automation

Steam service runs through boiler stop valves, attemperator bypass, turbine drain, heat exchanger isolation, sterilization headers, and process heating skids. Saturated and superheated duties have different temperature and erosion profiles that influence valve and actuator choice.

High temperature service demands thermal isolation between the valve bonnet and the actuator housing. Most installations need an extended bonnet, stem extension, or yoke spacer; the actuator must continue to perform after thermal soak and during emergency shutdown sequences.

FFC EFX-D covers gate and globe valves on steam isolation duties, while EFX-Q handles butterfly valves on lower-pressure steam distribution. Enclosure rating, mounting arrangement, and torque margin should be specified once the steam pressure, temperature, and duty cycle are known — share the line condition and FFC will confirm the configuration.

Selection caution

High temperature service requires valve thermal isolation and suitable mounting arrangements.
